| Old Shop and Spread Eagle, Trinity Bay
Turn off Route 80 for Old Shop just before South Dildo. Local tradition is that it takes its name from ``old chop'', because it was used to cut ships' timbers.

The community has an excellent beach for mussels and clams. It also provides a view of Dildo Arm, where whales are often seen. Old Shop also has the entrance to a beautiful cabin resort, Spread Eagle which is a favourite for summer people. Many families from St. John's own a second home at Spread Eagle.
